1+1=2 some say 1 and 1 means eleven, but i say 1 + 1 = 1 . tell me how?

the first one in 11 is in the ten’s place,the second 1 is in the one’s place.
both the 1 and the other 1 are both in the ones place so they can’t posibly equal 11. If you had 10+1 then it will be 11 because the 10 is in the tens place. An example is that you have one apple and someone gives you another, how many will you have? 2, not 11.
