In what state other than the crappy state of NJ – that i just moved into- can’t you buy beer at a 7-eleven?

It’s 11:30pm on a sunday night before labor day and needed my weekly beer fix. I drove to a 24 hour pathmark and could not find beer and to my surprise, in the state of new jersey, you can’t buy beer in a supermarket. So i went to a 7-eleven, same story except the cashier laughed in my face. This must have been the most rediculous experience i’ve had since i’ve moved to NJ 2 months ago. In NY, you can buy beer at any 24 hour bodega, 7-eleven or supermarket. But in the state of NJ, you can only go to a bar, get drunk and drive home(if you get home). In NY, i used to get my beer, bring it home and enjoy it in the safety of my home. Don’t know whether or not it’s a law to prevent you from drinking and driving but you’d be garanteeing that all people that drin kthat night drive home with alcohol in their system since the only place you can drink is away from your home. Totally unsafe and STUPID. Where can i get beer at 11:30 pm in New Jersey?

Chosen Answer:

Obviously you can’t get it anywhere. Utah doesn’t sell it anywhere due to their Mormon ownership of the state. Drive into NY & buy it there & bring it back with you.

You have to ask for takeout at local bar. Same way in PA.

Kentucky is “moist” – wet in some places, dry in others. I have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest place to legally buy alcohol. You can’t buy it anywhere on Sunday, I don’t think, except at restuarants. There are, however, plenty of “bootleggers”. What I don’t understand is that the fundamentalist Christians won’t allow a store or restaurant to sell alcohol, but they won’t shut down the bootleggers (everyone knows who and where they are). The police don’t do anything to them, either. It’s just a part of our culture here. The problem is that it isn’t regulated. So while a 12 year old can’t buy alcohol at a licquor store or gas station, he can buy it from a bootlegger. Makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

New jersey also has the worst car safety seats in the united states. It has the highest child death rates. I think their state motto is the save me state? Save me from the depts of evil from alcohol….

Texas has “blue laws” which means you cant buy alcohol on Sundays, or alchol before 12:00.
