my cousin really wants 2 strt babysitting. shes only eleven and pretty responsible. would it be legal? shes in US, WA.
Chosen Answer:
No. Usually 13 is the youngest age. And some states do not allow that. Although an 11 yr old can be mature in some ways. What would they do if a crisis really happened? You never know how they would react.

It may be Legal but is the area consider safe enough for her to make a good judgement call if something happens.
no its not legal. i wouldn’t leave my kids with an 11 year old.
Legal or not, there is no way I would employ an 11 year old to look after my babies.
11 sounds a little crazy, and a bit too young. Generally it is not about being legal or not, its more about maturity and responsibility. I think 11 is too young.
In Connecticut we have no standard age, but it depends on the maturity level of the babysitter. Generally, 13 is the borderline age.
But keep in mind that the legal issues will probably only come up when there is a problem.
If you ask me, if you still believe in Santa Clause then you are too young to babysit.
