then would u let 1 or 2 twelve yr old(s) watch your kid(s) its legal for eleven yr olds to stay home alone?

Chosen Answer:

It really depends on how old your child is. I’ve had a 12yo kid babysit my 7yo for a few hours but I’d be very leery to leave a baby with a 12yo. My daughter is 13 and I don’t leave her to babysit because she and her brother fight too much and he doesn’t listen to her (he’s 8 now). So I’ve invited a friend of hers to baby babysit my son. Naturally I pay her just like I would anyone else.

These days I’m too broke to go anywhere that costs money much less paying for a sitter. =)

If they are today’s 12 year olds, no. If they are the kind of 12 year olds like when we were 12, then yes.

No. My babysitter for my 2 kids is 18. She’s more responsible and mature than any 12 year old I know. I don’t worry about her chatting on her phone all night or texting, playing on the computer, etc. I trust her if anything was to happen to get my kids to safety, ie. fire, burgler, etc.

for our family – no We only let adults who are family members keep our kids.

I was babysitting at age 10 but that was in the 80′s. Life is different now.

Notice those who say yes are not adults with kids. They are kids themselves.
