Why is ABC1 on channel 2, channel TEN on channel 5, channel NINE on channel 8 & channel ELEVEN on channel 55?

Stupid question, but it seems like a no-brainer…

Chosen Answer:

ABC1 was previously Channel 2 before Freeview & is still on channel 2.
The others I have no idea as TEN is 10, NINE is 9 & ELEVEN is 11 for me.

I don’t know if Foxtel etc are different, I think they are.

   The NAME of the TV channel is not related to the CHANNEL you watch this on tv. This will depend on your local television distribution provider. I e.g. see ABC 1 on channel 483 and ESPN2 on channel 700.
   This differs per region.
